It Continues to Have The Same Mission- to Inform Students Through The Arts and Literature to Become Informed Citizens for Todays World. It Provides Free Lesson Plans, Readers-theater and Books to Students Across The United States and Beyond. The Focus is On Historical Events and How It Impacts Students Present Day. The First Project Leverages The Award-winning Holocaust-era Novel, "Milkweed,"by Jerry Spinelli. In Just Three Years, The Milkweed Education Project Has Expanded From A 14-school Pilot to Robust Partnerships With More Than 200 Classrooms In 43 US States, As Well As Five Provinces In Canada And, Most Recently, A Classroom In Norway. An Animated Film Based On The Novel is In Production and Will Also Be Provided for Free to Classrooms.
