FAMILY LITERACY PROGRAM. THIS is OUR LARGEST and MOST RECOGNIZABLE PROGRAM. THROUGH THE FLP, OUR VOLUNTEER TUTORS VISIT LANTINO STUDENTS, (PRIMARILY KINDERGARTEN THROUGH FIFTH GRADERS) IN THEIR HOMES AT LEAST ONCE A WEEK to HELP THEM WITH HOMEWORK, SCHOOL PROJECTS, and BASIC LITERACY SKILLS. OUR VOLUNTEER TUTORS VISIT THE HOMES of APPOROXIMATELY 120 ENGLISH LANGUAGE LEARNING CHILDREN THAT ATTEND MANTEO ELEMENTARY SCHOOL, NAGS HEAD ELEMENTARY SCHOOL, and MOST RECENTLY, CAPE HATTERAS ELEMENTARY SCHOOL. WE ALSO SERVE MANTEO MIDDLE SCHOOL STUDENTS WHO WE BEGAN TUTUORING WHEN THEY WERE IN ELEMENTARY SCHOOL.
